ADVANTAGES OF A POLYETHYLENE BOAT

Polyethylene refers to polymers of ethylene. This material is simple, easy to manufacture, easy to work with, recyclable, strong and allows the creation of multiple shapes for various uses.

ROTOMOD uses mass-dyed high-density polyethylene, also known as compound, for its boats. The transformation technique used is rotational molding.

The advantages of this method and the polyethylene thus transformed are then:

  • impact and abrasion resistance: your kayak rubs, touches, knocks but does not pierce.
  • repairable: polyethylene filler welding identical to the kayak using a hot air gun (Leister)
  • UV resistance: the color of your boat is preserved over time.
  • low maintenance
  • long lifespan
  • rigid: does not deform in swells or torrents
  • Recyclable: Is your canoe or kayak reaching the end of its life? We recycle it to reuse the material for other applications.

All these advantages are confirmed by our partners, clubs, rental companies and nautical bases who have been using our products for almost 50 years.

Rotational molding is a plastics processing technique. This technique is based on the rotational movement of the mold combined with the heating of this mold. The combination of these two elements allows the plastics to gradually take on the shape of the mold. This is where the word rotational molding comes from: rotational molding. In practice, 5 successive phases allow the transformation of the plastic material
